摘要

实现智能化与绿色化深度融合,培育经济发展新动能是“十四五”阶段的核心目标。本文以2012-2021年A股上市公司为样本,基于智能制造试点示范政策,采用倾向得分匹配和多重差分模型考察了智能制造对企业绿色转型的影响和作用机制。研究发现,智能制造显著推动了企业进行绿色转型,促使企业摆脱“表面的、保守的、短视的”转型困境,实现“实质的、突破的、清洁生产的”绿色转型。智能制造通过促进企业增加绿色投资规模,调整预防型绿色投资比例,增强媒体环境关注和自身环境关注,进而推动绿色转型。智能制造的绿色转型效应在行业竞争激烈、政府环境关注度高的企业中更为显著。本文从智能制造视角提出了企业绿色转型的根本内驱力,对大力发展新质生产力、推动经济社会发展全面绿色转型具有重要意义。

Abstract

This study provides novel evidence on how smart manufacturing, which aims to build high-quality development within the manufacturing sector, affects corporate green transformation. Taking matched data of Chinese A-share firms from between 2012 and 2021, the paper systematically investigates for the first time the impact and mechanism of smart manufacturing on corporate green transformation. The empirical results reveal that smart manufacturing significantly drives firms to implement green transformation, particularly towards areas of “substantial, innovative and clean productive” green transformation. They also clearly demonstrate the important internal driving role of smart manufacturing for firms in overcoming the “superficial, conservative and short-sighted” dilemma of green transformation and achieving a “substantive, valuable and sustainable” green transformation. Smart manufacturing not only promotes greater green investment, but also encourages firms to engage in more clean production investment, creating opportunities for them to implement green transformation. It further attracts media and firm attention to corporate environmental performance, which stimulates them to intensify their efforts in green transformation. Heterogeneity tests indicate that the effects of smart manufacturing are most significant in firms subject to fiercer market competition and increased government environmental attention. Ultimately, the paper proposes a fundamental driving force for firms to achieve their green transformation from a smart manufacturing perspective, which has important policy implications for how to effectively promote China’s economy in a smart and green direction.
